The Su-12. A photo. Characteristics. History.

Su-12 - an experimental twin-engine aircraft of Soviet production, created as a reconnaissance vehicle for correcting the air artillery.

The Research Institute of the Air Force of the Red Army (July 1943 years) have been developed technical and tactical requirements for a military reconnaissance aircraft, correcting artillery fire on the enemy. And in November of the same year in KB PO Sukhoi engineers have prepared a preliminary draft of a spotter with two engines of the brand M-62, calculated on a three-person crew. The aircraft is designed according to the plan of the German FW-189. Initially, the design has been approved and included in the plan to build prototypes in the NCAP period, 1944-1945 years, but soon the main meeting, it reconsidered and reduced.

After a short amount of time, thanks to the tremendous efforts of Marshal NN Voronov, the project restored the aircraft in the work plan. July 10 46, the CM approved the future of the Soviet Union aircraft than the duty on PO Sukhoi to build two prototypes with engines DB-83. By decree of the first OP must be prepared for the state tests in mid-September 1947 years.

Sketch of the project prepared in June 46 years, but TTT developed slowly and were ready already in the end of October. In March 1947, the layout has been completed. During an inspection, the Commission expressed a number of disgruntled remarks, the most important was to increase the crew of up to four people. In March 1947 years the USSR has approved a plan to manufacture prototype 1947 year. In general, a number of amendments adopted by the primary replacement was previously approved for new engines - AL-82M.

In early August of that year, Su-12 was built. Immediately after the PO Dry decided to start a factory test car without even some parts of weapons and equipment. Lack of additional materials in no way affected the tests.

The first flight of the Su-12 26 committed in August 47 years, they ran a test ND Fikson. Factory tests have ended in late October. The result was the failure to comply with the Government's objectives as planned engines AL-82M were not ready, and they were replaced by AL-82FN who conceded the primary model 350 horsepower.

In December, a plane without arms passed on state tests. The results confirmed the factory, and it was revealed a few flaws. All nedovedennosti were corrected prior to the filing of Su-12 into production. Before that, it was decided to hold another public test, but with a full arms.

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1948, the Su-12 was adopted and put into serial production. It was planned that the factory will be occupied by the plant No.381. But everything dragged on until November, since the last act of state trials was not approved. The Sukhoi Design Bureau had to conduct a series of tests and checks to find out the reasons for the aircraft's shortcomings. Repeated (additional) state tests were conducted in 1949 year in the period July-September. Additional testing and debugging of the device gave its result, and already in October, after approval by the commission, it was decided to send the project for production to Czechoslovakia.

During the adoption of a package of documents Commission again did not like some things. Based on the results of Su-12 not meet all the parameters and characteristics specified by the Government in March 1947 years. The aircraft was not able to get into mass production due to a number of negative factors. Not successful, no further attempt PO Sukhoi.

Construction razvedyvatelnogokorrektirovschika Su-12

The aircraft is constructed according to the plan "frame" with two tail boom. They mounted horizontal stabilizer. Front beams installed engines DB-82FN used for air cooling. From the structural point of view of an air reconnaissance spotter was created as close to mass production, because all of his units were dissected technology connectors.

Main unit (central part), created the profile TsAGI P-7, consists of two parts: a one-piece spar (I-beam) and two additional wall. For center-joined gondola crew collected separately in the stocks. Its foundation was thirteen frames and spar with the presence of four additional stringers. Placement of the crew in the gondola was: headed - the pilot, on the right side - the navigator, behind them closer to the center - a radio operator-gunner in the tail - gunner engaged purely infantry unit.

As protection for the crew members were booked back seat. The thickness of the plates in bronespinke ranged from seven to twelve millimeters. To protect the rear of the aircraft used bulletproof glass thickness 90 mm. Also armored protection had sex (5 mm), avionics (2 mm) and the lower hemisphere in the nose lantern. The latter used a specially designed glass thickness 15 mm. In that case, if the plane crashed or if during the fight he knocked out the crew could quickly leave the fuselage due to emergency relief hatches and doors.

By the end ribs joined the center-wing with a working lining. They were completely similar in design to the very center section. The wings and the central part equipped with slotted flaps. Steel frame with a rag seemed aileron trim with the wind and the weight compensation.

Integrally with the tail boom were manufactured keels. They had their continuation. Themselves as the tail boom were designed by type monocoque. Horizontal tail connects the ends of the beams.

Interfacing with the ground was carried out thanks to a two-gear and tail wheel. Cable control controls the rudder, hard - respectively, elevator and ailerons.

As the plane was created for the purpose of investigation and correction, to its board installed photographic equipment. It provides perspective and planned to photograph the area low and high altitudes.
