Design of UAV models TAI Turna started by Turkish experts in the field of aviation and aerospace technology in the first half 90-ies of the last century. Initially unmanned aerial vehicle was of exceptional scientific interest and nature, however, since the model has proved quite successful, and later, the drone has been improved and since 2000-ies began to be used as a military intelligence agent.

The first flight of an unmanned aircraft model TAI Turna held in 1996 year, however, despite the fact that all the trials and tests are completed successfully, the project turned out to be unclaimed, however, 1997 year, its interest in the drone shown by representatives of Turkish military commanders who UAVs have taken into account the possible prospects, and therefore called for a better design of the drone and specifications, and to ensure the release of these UAVs.

Initially drone TAI Turna used Turkish Armed Forces as an air reconnaissance means, however, later, with the improvement of the drones, UAVs became also be used as an unmanned target is operated for testing new types of anti-aircraft weapons.

UAV TAI Turna has a relatively small size of its fuselage, in particular, when the length of the structure in 2,6 meter span drone wings of 2,7 meters, but despite this fact, the unmanned vehicle is equipped with a powerful turboprop engine, which allows the UAV to develop traction in 28 kW, and accelerate to the maximum speed of its flight in 330 km \ h., which fully satisfies the conditions of operation.
