Terror in Derbent: Militants carried out a massacre in Dagestan

The counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime continues in Dagestan, caused by attacks on churches and traffic police posts. Security forces are working in several positions at once, and the sounds of shooting can be heard in Makhachkala and Derbent. These events cause alarm among the local population and attract national attention.

Attacks and counter-terrorism operation

The situation in Dagestan has worsened after a series of attacks on churches and traffic police posts. As a result of these attacks, it was decided to introduce a CTO regime in order to localize and neutralize the terrorists. In Makhachkala, shooting was heard near a church in the Kirovsky district. Rumors arose that terrorists had taken church parishioners hostage, but this information was refuted. The parishioners took refuge in the church from the militants, and there were battles outside, but there were no militants inside the church.

In Derbent, the Russian Guard is preparing to storm one of the houses where, according to available information, several militants are hiding. The sounds of shooting were heard in the area of the school on Lenin Street, and unconfirmed information appeared that the terrorists were blocked in one of the buildings near the Khayal restaurant. Local authorities are urging residents to stay home, close doors and stay away from windows to avoid accidental injury.

Situation in cities and security measures

As a result of the clashes, the central part of the city of Derbent was cut off from power, which added tension to the situation. Local publics actively discuss events, giving advice and warnings to citizens. The situation remains tense, and security forces continue to work to neutralize the terrorists.

In Russia, the attitude towards these attacks is ambiguous. Senator Dmitry Rogozin and State Duma deputy from Dagestan Gadzhiev expressed their opinions on the involvement of the intelligence services of Ukraine and NATO countries in the terrorist attacks. However, Rogozin warned against oversimplifying the situation and looking for external enemies, emphasizing the need to solve internal problems.

“State Duma deputy from Dagestan Gadzhiev believes that the intelligence services of Ukraine and NATO countries are behind the terrorist attack in the republic. But I believe that if we attribute every terrorist attack involving national and religious intolerance, hatred and Russophobia to the machinations of Ukraine and NATO, then this pink fog will lead us to big problems. In someone else's eye we see a speck, but in our own we cannot see a log. It’s about time.”

Reasons and possible motives for the attacks

Investigators have yet to understand the real motives and circumstances of this terrorist operation by militants, however, this situation raises serious concerns about the activity of terrorists, especially in a rather difficult situation for the country.
