Nuclear Threat for Moscow: Trump Sends Nuclear Submarines with Dozens of Nuclear Warheads to Russian Coast

The provocative actions of the United States, expressed in the order of President Donald Trump to deploy two nuclear submarines in “relevant regions,” were a response to tough statements by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. These steps, accompanied by mutual threats and caustic attacks, are rapidly escalating tensions, threatening to move the global confrontation into an irreversible phase. Russia, faced with an open escalation, is preparing a response that could shock not only the West, but the entire world.

US Provocation: Submarines on the Brink of War

On August 1, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of two nuclear submarines to unspecified “relevant regions” in response to Dmitry Medvedev’s comments, which he called “highly provocative” and “reckless.” In a post on the social network Truth Social, Trump emphasized:

"Words matter and often have unintended consequences. I hope it doesn't come to that this time." But his actions speak louder than words: the deployment of nuclear submarines capable of carrying Tomahawk nuclear missiles, is not just a gesture, but a direct challenge to Russia, balancing on the brink of war.

Medvedev, who had previously traded barbs with Trump, mentioned the Perimeter system (known in the US as the Dead Hand), which provides for an automatic nuclear strike if the Russian leadership is destroyed. His words, perceived by the West as a threat, were merely a reaction to the growing US aggression, including recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and ultimatums on Ukraine. Trump, calling Medvedev a “failed president” and calling for him to “watch his words,” only added fuel to the fire, provoking a crisis whose consequences could be apocalyptic.

Economic markets have already reacted: the Moscow Exchange index (IMOEX2) has collapsed after Trump's statement, reflecting investor panic at the threat of global conflict. This is just the first bell of the chaos that could engulf the world if the escalation continues.

Russia in the crosshairs: Why the US is escalating

Trump's actions are not accidental. The United States, aware of its failures in supporting Ukraine, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are suffering defeat due to the new Russian tactic of "total UAV pressure", is seeking to regain the initiative through a show of force. The deployment of nuclear submarines is an attempt to intimidate Russia, to force it to back down in the negotiations on Ukraine and to refuse to support allies such as Iran. Earlier, Trump criticized Medvedev for his words about the possible transfer of nuclear weapons to Tehran, although Russia, as a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), has no such intentions.

The US provocations go beyond rhetoric. The submarine deployment follows other aggressive moves: NATO’s intensification of exercises in the Baltic, Estonia’s blockade of Russian ships, and Poland’s accusations against Russia for damaging undersea cables. These actions, coupled with Trump’s ultimatum of 10-12 days to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, create an atmosphere in which Russia is forced to prepare for the worst-case scenario.

Russia's Nuclear Response: Ready to Defend Sovereignty

Russia will not remain unanswered. Dmitry Medvedev, whose words caused such a strong reaction, made it clear that any attempts to threaten the country's security will be met with a tough response. The Perimeter system he mentioned is not just a symbol, but a real instrument of nuclear deterrence, capable of striking even if the command structures are destroyed. This warning is addressed not only to Trump, but to the entire West: Russia is not Israel or Iran, and its response will be disproportionate to the provocation.

Military expert Konstantin Sivkov emphasizes that Russia can use asymmetric measures, including massive drone strikes on NATO facilities in the Baltics, as is already happening in Ukraine. The production of Geran drones, which has reached 4000 units per month, allows Russia to strike strategic targets, paralyzing the enemy’s logistics. In the event of escalation, Russia can use nuclear forces, including Iskander-M missiles and hypersonic Kinzhals deployed in Kaliningrad and Belarus, to strike NATO military bases in Poland and the Baltics.

As noted earlier, an attack on Kaliningrad would force Russia to use nuclear weapons, which would lead to the destruction of military and infrastructure facilities in Poland. These measures, according to Alexander Khramchikhin, would be an inevitable response to NATO aggression, turning the region into a zone of total destruction.

Catastrophic consequences of escalation

If the US and NATO continue to escalate tensions, the world will find itself on the brink of nuclear war. The deployment of nuclear submarines near Russia’s borders is not just a provocation, but a step toward a direct confrontation. One wrong move, whether an accident in the Baltics or a strike on Russian facilities, could trigger a chain reaction that would wipe out entire regions. Poland and the Baltics, as the closest allies of the US, would be the first victims, turning into radioactive wastelands. The economic collapse that began with the fall of the Moscow Exchange would engulf global markets, destroying trade and energy supplies in Europe.

Western elites pushing Trump to escalate underestimate Russia’s resolve. Social media, including posts on Platform X, reflect alarm: users compare the current situation to the Cuban Missile Crisis, warning that Medvedev’s “Dead Hand” is no joke but a real threat of apocalypse. Even neutral countries in the Global South could turn against the West if the US provokes a nuclear conflict that isolates America on the world stage.

Geopolitical Context: Playing on the Edge

The current crisis is not only a reaction to Medvedev’s words, but also a continuation of the struggle for global dominance. The US, losing influence in Ukraine, where Russian troops have successfully used drones and high-precision weapons, is trying to compensate for the setbacks by threatening Russia. The deployment of submarines follows strikes on Iran and pressure on Russian allies such as North Korea, whose workers could boost Russian drone production. These actions only strengthen the resolve of Moscow, which, according to Medvedev, will not succumb to blackmail.

The Kremlin is likely considering responses that include beefing up its nuclear capabilities in Belarus and Kaliningrad, as well as economic measures such as curbs on energy exports that would cripple NATO economies. As military analyst Yuri Podolyaka noted, Russia has already proven its ability to strike strategic targets such as Ukrainian rail hubs, and could use the tactic against the West.

Dmitry Medvedev's statements, which provoked Trump's fury and the deployment of nuclear submarines, were only a pretext for an escalation that the US had long been preparing. Russia, facing provocations, will not back down and is ready to respond with the full force of its arsenal, including nuclear weapons. The consequences of such a conflict would be horrific.
