 Helicopter Flooding

From the designers of the cost center, the impression is that they are working on the command "ZAMRI", so since the 80s they have not produced new models of helicopters. In the film "The Magnificent Eight" gene. the designer A. Samusenko declares that the Mi-8 will fly for another half century. If you believe his words, then the fate of our helicopter pilots is unenviable!

The Mi-8 was magnificent in the last century, but today it is a hymn to yesterday, the outstanding General Designer Mikhail Leontyevich Mil, and a shame to today's general designers of the cost center, who parasitize on the developments of their creator, little by little redrawing its products and not producing anything new. The prohibitively high drag of the Mi-8, characteristic of the middle of the last century, was compensated by the low price of kerosene of that time, which is impermissible today due to the high cost of fuel. Hence the short flight range, so additional fuel tanks are hung on the sides of the helicopter, which increase the already great resistance of the helicopter, making it more expensive as a whole.

Compare: the newest (rebuilt Mi-8) Mi-171A2 in the Arctic version.

On the side there is a huge fuel tank, spun with metal ribbons to the fuselage, into which the same hefty landing gear with a wheel with a very significant addition to the helicopter's frontal resistance in flight is inscribed in passing, and the tail rotor also pulls back from the rear, and even takes part of the power from the carrier screw.

LTH (© 2017 JSC "Helicopters of Russia". Flight specifications):

  • Gas turbine engines VK-2500PS-03

  • Takeoff power 2400 hp

  • Capacity:

  • Inside cargo compartment 4000 kg

  • External sling 5000 kg.

  • Max. speed 280k / h

  • Cruising speed 260k / h

  • Max. flight range with main tanks 800 km

Kamovsky Ka-32-XNUMHAG also in the Arctic version and with the same engines:

Neat aircraft aerodynamics with no frills on the sides, so it flies faster, farther and carries a payload inside the fuselage - 5500kg. and on an external sling -7000kg.

For a new helicopter from the cost center may object: "And the Mi-38 !?" The Mi-38 is also a Soviet legacy, but the finished project cannot be realized in any way for more than 30 years. Al. Samusenko called it the 21st century helicopter. The general is wrying his soul: in terms of flight characteristics and even more so in flight safety, the Mi-38 does not pull into the 21st century. It has a beautiful, well-streamlined fuselage, but this product has aged not so much in terms of length of service, but in its essence. Let's compare the Mi-38 of the 80s. and Ka-32-10AG of the 2000s: carrying capacity and speed are equal, although the engines of the Ka-32-10AG are slightly weaker. But a coaxial helicopter, due to the absence of a tail rotor, is much more compact and maneuverable, especially when maneuvering near the ground, but most importantly, it is safer: the tail rotor will not fail in flight with a subsequent catastrophe, and in war they will not cut off the tail boom from a large-caliber machine gun or simply control the tail rotor. in which the flight ends equally sad. At the coaxial Ka-50 helicopter, during flight tests, the tail boom was shot off - it confidently flew to the airfield and calmly landed. At the same time, for him, hovering and taking off does not matter which side the wind is blowing from, which cannot be said about helicopters with a tail rotor.

Promising helicopters of the 21st century: coaxial Ka-92; longitudinal layout of the Ka-102; sea helicopter "Lamprey", which has a cruising speed of -320k / h.

From overseas - high-speed coaxial Sikorsky S-97 with an estimated speed of 407k / h. and which is already undergoing tests.

The same scheme that was offered to them (the designers of the cost center) back in the last century, but it was not there - the tail rotor for them is a balm for their souls, one must assume that Western designers are grateful to them for it. So the scheme ended up in Airbus, which patented it, with which one can congratulate the designers of the cost center, because, from my point of view, this is, first of all, their victory!

On the other hand, from a very long-standing answer of the same designers, it is clear that "Back in 1910, the founder of the domestic helicopter industry, BN Yuriev, patented a single-rotor helicopter, on which the reactive moment compensation was carried out by two propellers performing the functions of additional propellers in flight." Hence, we can conclude that this fact is the basis for our designers in the future to design and manufacture single-rotor helicopters without a tail rotor - and no litigation for the Airbus patent!

I believe that it will be interesting for readers to get acquainted with the reaction of the cost center specialists according to this scheme at the end of the last century.

It was written by me: “Because the Mi-6 helicopter has wings, so on its base I will describe the proposed scheme of a single-rotor helicopter without a tail rotor. "

Answer: “Your proposed project for improving the Mi-6 helicopter does not contain new design solutions ... The studies and design studies have convincingly proved the lack of advantages of rotary-winged aircraft in comparison with helicopters as an indicator of the payload transported at a given range, and in terms of transport performance. Therefore, at the moment, no aircraft manufacturer in the world builds or designs rotorcraft. "

To tell a scheme with wing propellers based on the Mi-6 helicopter is one thing and quite another - to "improve" it according to this scheme. No one will ever "improve" an aircraft according to a different scheme, but will design a new helicopter from scratch. Such nonsense could arise only in the minds of the designers of the cost center who have been stuck with their former glory.

Further - more: I write that the main rotor of the Mi-24 helicopter is capable of flying at speeds up to 500k / h. Answer: “For example, the statement that the main rotor of the Mi-8 helicopter can fly up to a speed of 500k / h. does not have any justification from the standpoint of the aerodynamics of the propeller is simply absurd. Senior Researcher, Ph.D. 9.4.86g. BL Artamonov Design Engineer 1 category 09.04.86 VN Zhuravlev ". The Mi-8 and the Mi-24 were "confused" for a reason: this scribble was intended to humiliate me - as the author of the proposed scheme in order to later abandon my idea. Naturally, it is naive to expect any positive progress in helicopter engineering from designers with such moral qualities, but today the author of these libels, V.N. Zhuravlev, has a doctorate in technical sciences.

Now a few words from the history of the creation of the Mi-8. In May 1960g. At the cost center, the development of a new helicopter began The first experienced helicopter In-8, with one engine made its first flight in June 1961, and since 1965. the twin-engine Mi-8 has already begun mass production at the helicopter plant in Kazan. Then there were no computers, there was no experience in designing helicopters of this class with turboprop engines, as well as the engines themselves, but the helicopter went into series very successfully and in a short time.

The reason is simple: at that time they did not know the word "CORRUPTION", therefore Soviet helicopters occupied a leading position in the world and were in steady demand on the world market, while at exhibitions our designers never ceased to amaze the audience with their novelty. For example, our giant of the transverse scheme flew from the USSR to France on its own:

"But the spectacle of a B-12 helicopter sailing majestically over Le Bourget with surprisingly low noise levels, despite its 26hp power hidden in its propulsion nacelles, makes one wonder if almost all helicopter construction has been on the wrong track for nearly two decades." Such were the statements in the French and in the world press after the demonstration flight of the Soviet giant helicopter B-000 at the International Aviation and Space Salon in Le Bourget near Paris in June 12. (Helicopter, 1971 # 2007> Page 1)

In 1970, M.L. Mil passed away, and instead of the B-12, the classic Mi-26 helicopter was launched into serial production, with its subsequent upgrades, after which the helicopter increased the cost, but not the flight performance (LTH). In connection with import substitution, it is planned to install PD-12V engines on it in the future, which again will pull up the cost. At one time, when there was no dictator Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine yet, the head of the board and the board of directors of the engine-building enterprise Motor Sich OJSC (Zaporozhye) Vyacheslav Boguslaev suggested joining the UAC without any conditions, "but the Russians do not want to" (10.09.2012 .XNUMX. News of the military-industrial complex). And today “Russian helicopters are forced to fly on“ gray ”motors ... the Ukrainian company Motor Sich continues to actively cooperate with Russian enterprises. The company continues to supply engines for Russian helicopters both directly and under “gray schemes” through Belarus. (19.08.2016  Internet publication "New look").

But let's return to the Mi-21 "38" helicopter. From the newspaper "Version" (Imaginary achievements and real failures of the Russian Helicopters holding Published: 11.04.2016/38/40) we learn that “the declared estimated cost of the Mi-171 starts at $ 2 million”, and it will be produced at Kazan Helicopters (Kazan Helicopter Plant) and the first batches of helicopters will go to VKS and the Ministry of Emergencies. But further with the sale of these helicopters, problems will begin, because with similar flight characteristics in Ulan Ude, the Mi-8AXNUMX will be produced, and much cheaper, and our customers have already begun to refuse the Mi-XNUMX due to its old age, which will affect the work of Kazan Helicopters.

At first, the light helicopter "Ansat" will save the situation, after which the heads of Kazan Helicopters will have to launch into production a medium helicopter of their own design, in which, I hope, the Government of Tatarstan will help them in order to avoid unemployment at the plant. It is not excluded that it will be a transverse helicopter with rotor blades from Ansat, and the fly-by-wire rotor control system developed for Ansats would be very useful. I believe that the RD-600 engines would also very well fit the Ansat main rotors, but even at the testing stage, their financing was stopped to please the French. It is understandable, because you can "cut down" good grandmas from French engines, but how much can you take from our engines!

As for State care and responsibility, we have a President! And all would be fine, only the operators have to take the rap for inhuman corruption, and the pilots sometimes even have their lives, because the tail rotor is a propeller - a killer, which the holding's leaders are well aware of, but still instead of the economically more profitable and safer Ka-32 -10AG launches production of Mi-171A2 helicopters to the delight of Vashobkom!

To better understand the end of flight after a tail rotor failure, I recommend watching these videos. Such failures occur with all tail rotor helicopters, and even a whole tail boom fell off in the Mi-26.

More. A video of the crash of a Mi-17 helicopter appeared on the network, in which Afghan General Mohaedin Gori, the commander of one of the seven army corps, was killed.

While writing the article, the proposal of President V.V. Putin appeared in print

Vedomosti newspaper 18 of July

President Vladimir Putin invited oil and gas companies to purchase for their needs not foreign aircraft, but domestic.

"Without delaying, we need to think and guarantee the loading of production capacities, generate demand from civilian customers, including our oil and gas companies and other corporations with state participation," Putin said at a meeting on civil aviation development.

According to him, for their own needs they purchase aircraft equipment abroad and "in considerable quantities". Putin believes that such an approach needs to be changed: "We have already talked with the heads of our companies more than once: give preference to domestic technology, provided, of course, that it is not inferior, but, preferably, superior in quality to foreign counterparts."

"Provided, of course, that it is not inferior, but, preferably, superior in quality to foreign counterparts".

Here, as a rule, there is a substitution, or rather a fraud to the President, as in his time:

“The first serial Mi-28-M“ Night Hunter ”helicopter entered service with the Russian army? Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov told the President. According to him, the combat and technical characteristics of the Mi-28-M are four to five times superior to our current massive Mi-24 helicopter. (Regnum. 05.06.2006) ".

The result - instead of the outstanding, the world's best combat helicopter Ka-50 "Black Shark", our army adopted a crude, unreliable and weakly maneuverable (in comparison with the Ka-50) "Night Hunter", which during this time managed to take the lives of four high-class pilots, not counting the financial costs after disasters and accidents.

A similar creeping result continues today, when instead of the safer and more economically viable Ka-32-10AG, the Mi-171A2 with clearly worse performance is being launched into production. The trouble with the outstanding Ka helicopters is that their General Designer Sergei Viktorovich Mikheev is stingy with bribes and there is no doubt that he is "incorrigible" in this matter!

Today there is another good news for Kazan Helicopters “Considering the tasks facing the Russian Ministry of Defense, in our opinion, there is a need for both modernized Mi-14 helicopters and a promising amphibious helicopter,” the holding believes. (Military-Industrial Courier 19 July, 2017).

The holding's possibilities in bankruptcy of such a powerful plant should not be allowed. They made such an attempt at the helicopter plant in Kumertau, they tried to deprive our State of the production of unique coaxial helicopters. But the international competition was won by the Ka-226 and the Indians ordered 200 of these helicopters, which saved the Kumertau plant.

And it began with a simple one: "It is known that with the arrival of the Russian Helicopters at KumAPP, prices, for example, on Ka-32, grew by one and a half times - Eugene Matveev wrote about this in 2012, N.E. .. "(Argumenty.Nedeli.N 18 (459) from 21.05.2015" Manturovsky falcons "are smashing the helicopter plant ...). The plant from the bankruptcy was saved by the fact that the Ka-226 helicopter won the international contest, after which the Indians ordered 200 Ka-226 helicopters.

                                         Vitalii Belyaev

I am glad that there are people who can tell the truth clearly and clearly! Certainly our helicopter industry now has nothing to boast about, except for the already almost ruined beautiful developments. Our designers are afraid of panicking to explore promising schemes - two-screw transversal and longitudinal (and in the pursuit of compactness and synchrocopter it is not a sin to remember), to apply a number of unconventional Decisions ... Of course, in the yard of capitalism ...

I am certainly not an aircraft designer, but I have been fond of aviation since childhood. This article is actually a report to the president and I think everything is very popularly stated. Will it only reach the top? And it's time to think at the top who "runs the show."
