Yakovlev Yak-201
Once developed the Yak and Yak-141-43 engineers from the Yakovlev Design Bureau started to further branch of VTOL Yak-201. At this time, it is only a draft design. Neither layout nor the more experienced prototype is not designed. We began designing its own initiative in the middle of EDO staff 90-ies.
According to the given parameters, the new VTOL should have some differences from the previous Yak-141 and Yak-43, and primarily in terms of the increased range. Aircraft will be created according to the traditional scheme used in the basic models with the presence of a two-kilo tail unit. It will be installed with a large angle of inclination. The entire structure of the aircraft is drawn on unobtrusive characteristics and has a small number of right angles. According to the plan of the power plant, the engine used will be in a single instance, lifting-marching, with a mechanical drive on the lift fan. The engine will be installed behind the cockpit. The nozzle of the engine was viewed in different versions, in particular a flat or round shape, but it is performed in a rotary version.
The mechanism of change of the thrust vector will enable the aircraft to be supermaneuverability. Armament Yak-201 will be placed in a specially designed inner compartments of the fuselage. But to design the layout plane never arrived. A draft version of the show representatives of the Defense Ministry, but it was never approved. The main reason was that the Yak-201 lacked funds, and an additional pretext became uncertain TTT program PRL.
According to preliminary data from the Design Bureau, the fighter-interceptor was calculated for one pilot. Since they did not dare with the final version of the engine, according to approximate data, the aircraft should reach a speed of 1250 km / h at the ground, and 1800 km / h in the air. The practical ceiling for the Yak-201 is 15 meters. Among the armament, it was decided to use the GSh-000 small gun with 301 rounds of ammunition. And at four points of the suspension it was decided to install an air-to-air missile system of the R-120 long-range or R-77 medium-range type. In some versions, the installation of close-range missiles R-27 and R-73 and NAR blocks with a caliber of up to 60 mm were studied.
