Aircraft Yakovlev Yak-27

Yak-27, which according to NATO classification called Flashlight-C, - loitering Soviet fighter-interceptor, developed in OKB Yakovlev.

After the modification of the Yak-25M Yakovlev engaged in the design and development of new and improved version of the interceptor. The aircraft received the name of the factory Yak-121. Its development was carried out in parallel with the scout and interceptor. OKB № 115 2 was commissioned to build prototypes. The first consisted of a radar "Falcon", the two engines RD-9AK, armed with two cannons 37 mm ammunition rounds on 50, 24 unguided rockets ARS-57. On state tests was sent to 1955

The second prototype is equipped with uprated AM 9f radar "Falcon-2», weapon system K-9 and was directed to pass state tests in 1956 city

Construction of the first prototype of the interceptor was conducted at the OKB-115 plant. Compared to the Yak-25M, the new fighter received improved aerodynamic performance. The radio-translucent nose cone is made by the type of an animated cone. The dimensions of the new aircraft increased. The total length has increased to 17,335 m. The layout of the cockpit is practically preserved, but the lanterns and the angle of the windshield have changed. The scheme of the wing and the nacelle was borrowed from the Yak-26-1 version. The report on the passing of state tests was received by 14.05.1956. During their passage, the fighter showed the maximum speed of 1235 km at an altitude of 10 km and the duration of the 3 hour flight with full tanks at an altitude of 12 km.

Following the presentation of the aircraft to the public during aviaparada in Tushino NATO experts named Fighter Flashlight-C. Various sources were called Yak-25K or Yak-27.

Military personnel hurried developers to pass a second instance with RD-9F. However, to meet the deadline was not possible due to delays in equipment delivery and presentation on the state tests postponed for the III quarter of 1956 before they decided to complete the production of small series of interceptors to meet the wishes and requirements of the military.

Yak-27

Production of the aircraft, received the name of the serial Yak-27, established at the Saratov aircraft factory with 1956 Preparation of production capacities to release fighters took place even during the factory test machine.

Armament Yak-27

Soviet industry produced two versions of the Yak-27: the first had a gun armament, the second - missile. Serial model differed from the prototype Yak-121 engines RD-9F and some design changes. In particular, they received other lines lantern and the nose cone, which occupied the top of the bar LDPE. 37-kalibrovye guns replaced cannons NR-30. Some items got to the location of the hardware guidance system "Horizon 1V." During serial production began to use a new wing, which has folded socks.

In July 1957 for the first time we tested the production models of the Yak-27. At the helm of the Yak-27 0102, tail number was Chuvin pilot who had the car in the air with one engine running and the other serial device №0204 test the functionality of the new wing.

During the official tests the aircraft showed good tactical flight characteristics, but has not been promising since the appearance and introduction of missile weapons systems at the end of 50-ies. Because of this, purely cannon fighter series was introduced.

Aircraft

In the middle of 1950 Yakovlev set himself the goal of creating a kind of fighter - a pirate, which makes it possible to smash the bases of enemy aircraft and destroy enemy bomber planes in their parking lots. As a result, it was possible to solve the problem by creating a special long-range fighter capable of inflicting heavy damage on its territory to the enemy. This aircraft had a long range of flight, high speed, powerful weapons and could with impunity in the daytime to keep under the influence of all the major enemy bases on a vast territory. However, the project of this twin-engine fighter was ahead of time and he remained on paper. The aircraft was created on the basis of Yak 25. Its factory tests were completed in 1956 year, after which it became clear that the flight characteristics of the aircraft are consistent. The only exception was the maximum speed of the aircraft, which did not exceed 1235 km / h. Nevertheless, without waiting for the tests of the aircraft with the new engine RD - 9F, it was decided to release the car in the series.

I think there will be people who share my view that the Yak-27 is one of the most outstanding attack aircraft 50-ies. Not so long ago began to study the fighter Yakovlev, and always find a lot of interesting things. I would be grateful for new information on the subject.
