Yak-52 is a sports and training aircraft, developed in the USSR. It was taken in the different training centers in the initial stages of pilot training.

Modifications

  • Yak-52 - the base model. It produces in 1979-1995 years.

  • Yak-54 (Yak-52M) - modification of aircraft with enhanced wing. Military, established in 1983, the designer Yakovlev AA

  • Yak-52M - modernized, equipped with an engine M-14H with propeller blades three MTV-8. Also improved: wing, lights, equipment composition and ejection system. Fuel capacity is increased to 250 l. It was first raised in the air, the 16.04.2004

  • Yak-52W - export version for Western Europe and the United States. Unlike the basic model in the presence of equipment for night flights, the luggage compartment in the fuselage and hydraulic brakes.

  • Yak-53 - Single aerobatic aircraft, the development of which was completed in 1981

  • "Condor" - Romanian modification, received a new engine "AvroLaykoming" with a three-blade propeller diameter 2,5 m and a new wheel.

Features Yak-52M

Modification of the Yak-52M different from the Yak-52 as follows:

  • About half of the on-board equipment is replaced, which allows to fly day and night in difficult under normal weather conditions.

  • The presence of a new lamp, promoting safe leaving the pilot of the aircraft in the event of ejection system response.

  • He installed a new rescue system that provides safe leaving the cabin crew in the event of an accident.

  • The very design of the wing deployed tanks-caissons, making flight range increased to 900 km.

  • Area management steering became more.

  • Have a three-bladed propeller MTV-9.

  • Upgraded wing to reduce the angle of attack.

  • There are blind blind flight.

Features Yak-52B

Yak-52B - light military aircraft, created on the basis of the training aircraft Yak-52. As the practice of war in Afghanistan showed, the USSR at that time was in great need of the availability of light percussion maneuvering aircraft. The requirements were embodied in the Yak-52B project (the serial name Yak-54 was assumed). In connection with the installation of Yak-52B armament (UB-32) had to strengthen the design of the wings. The plane passed the first tests, but it did not come to serial production: there were no orders for the novelty. Therefore, the aircraft was released in a single copy, which is now in the air museum of Monino.

History of creation

The design engineers were faced with the task of designing an airplane for training pilots for basic techniques and piloting capabilities. For a better training effect, the training aircraft must be stable and heavy in control, should not fall into a tailspin. However, when it comes to a sports training apparatus, then it needs the opposite indicators, in order to perform various spinning figures and elements. To find a compromise and design a universal sports and training aircraft that would be suitable for full-fledged training of pilots, instructed the OKB im. Yakovleva.

The development of light aircraft in young designers took only a few months. It coordinates the work of the Komsomol organization. Each business unit were fixed Komsomol brigades, and all questions about the new Yak-52 broached in the committee of the Komsomol. The work has led experienced designers who have sent their "child" after six months on the flight tests.

Based on the fact that the aircraft was designed for training requirements during the tests were set very high. Scan all systems carefully behavior in different speed modes, snap out of the state, landing parameters. All comments stringent test took into account in the implementation of the Yak-52 into production.

Wire serial production of training-sport aircraft in the Socialist Republic of Romania. Cooperative ties were maintained between the Romanian company and a design bureau to them. Yakovlev.

Often, after receiving the hands of consumers first serial aircraft units against CB enters the mass of letters with requests for upgrading of any one or more elements. With Yak-52 fared differently, because during its development have already been taken into account the comments of many famous pilots with 30-year experience. During the development of the Yak-52 were many borrowed from the Yak-18, and not because there was no fresh ideas. Just on the beliefs of experts, it is not necessary to change the units, time-tested. A Yak-18 in was for many years in the distribution of flying clubs and flight schools.

Compared with its predecessor Yak-52 endowed with advanced features. Using a more powerful engine allowed to perform the most dizzying figures in the air, which are called the methods of aerobatics. As part of the equipment is modern flight and navigation and radio-electronic systems that help keep the aircraft in deteriorating visibility and long routes.

Aircraft design

The aircraft fuselage has a metal casing which is secured to frame elements countersunk rivet. Sheer paneling - a duralumin sheet with a set of spars and stringers, which are placed along the perimeter.

The wing in the Yak-52 is single-spar, metal, docked with the fuselage by three frames. In the longitudinal set of the wing, in addition to the spar, there are front and rear walls, stringers. Stamping of the ribs is made of duralumin. Brackets of aluminum are installed in the places of mounting the chassis racks. Ailerons with aerodynamic axial compensation are applied to the aircraft. An aileron of ribs, a tubular spar and a tail stringer has been assembled. Sheathing of the sock is made of duralumin sheet, and the entire aileron is covered with a cloth. To the ribs, the canvas is sewn with threads. On the wing of the Yak-52, landing flaps are also installed, which are controlled by a pneumatic cylinder and are suspended in a swinging loop.

The chassis is three-wheeled, with a single nose wheel. If you compare it with the Yak-50 chassis, which was with the tail wheel, the design becomes heavier, but with the new wheel layout improved the view, and this one is more important for a training aircraft. Another important point - during the cleaning of the chassis presses to the fuselage and the wing, so that even if during the landing the pilot-novice forgot to release the chassis, the aircraft still safely sits. The design increases the aerodynamic drag, which affects the speed of the aircraft, but for the training aircraft safety is in the first place.

Landing gear has a liquid-gas cushioning. Due to the low pressure in the wheels of the plane can make ups even unpaved airfields.

Yak-52 equipped with nine-radial piston engine M-P 14, 360 outstanding power hp

For the sake of increasing the capacity by some foreign aircraft were fitted with turboprop engines elaboration 400-600 hp But such a solution would entail a number of changes, particularly reduction in fuel economy, increase in the cost of the aircraft, the complexity of its operation.

Fashion for the training of pilots of the jet planes that fell down to 50-60 years., Lost to a sober calculation capabilities. As it turned out, to teach the basic skills of the pilot flying the plane on the piston in 10 times cheaper than a jet. And the quality of pilot training is the right decision. It's no wonder the best pilots of the Soviet Union began their training on the Yak-18.

Oil and fuel systems provide trouble-free operation of the engine in all operating conditions. Fuel is reserved in two tanks, which are placed under the wings. The fuel tanks of these flows by gravity into 5-liter tank, in which the hose-intake.

The Yak-52 equipped with modern navigation and flight equipment, perfect work which allows to fly, even in adverse weather conditions. The aircraft also features automatic direction finder, compass system, VHF radio. Before the demonstration flights, which provide for the execution of aerobatic maneuvers, extra navigation equipment removed.

The Yak-52, created by Yakovlev in the middle of 1970-ies as a successor to the family of aircraft Yak-18, bothered similarities with its predecessors, despite the fact that the manufacturer has completely redesigned it. His glider with stressed skin has been created on the basis of single aircraft for aerobatic Yak-50, which in turn has been created especially for the last world championship in Kiev aerobatics 1976 years. Aircraft production Yak-52 was appointed at the company IAv in Bacau, Romania, and work on the first aircraft was launched in the year 1979.

Deliveries of the aircraft in the USSR began in 1980 year, and by mid-year 1992 1600 was built more airplanes, mainly for use in the former Soviet Union. The aircraft can perform all the stunts, and one of its unique features is the tricycle landing gear, which remains fully open after cleaning to protect the machine in case of a landing with landing gear ( "on its belly").

Company IAv after the overthrow of the communists in Romania was named "Aerostar» (Aerostar), and this type of aircraft still in production today. A significant number of former Soviet Yak-52 was purchased by Western pilots during 1990-ies, copies of these aircraft were in most European registers, as well as in private hands in Australia and North America.
