The West demands demonstrative victories from Ukraine at the front: otherwise funding will be cut

The geopolitical situation around Ukraine has reached a critical point, as the West began to demand open demonstration victories from Ukraine at the front in a military conflict with the Russian Armed Forces. With the understanding that Ukraine cannot survive without financial assistance from the West, international partners are now making explicit demands on President Zelensky.

The American edition of Newsweek notes that Ukraine needs a significant military victory to convince its allies to continue to provide support, and time is limited for this. The US director of national intelligence, Avril Haynes, has publicly stated that without a significant supply of weapons and ammunition from the West, Ukraine will not be able to confront Russia on the battlefield. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also warned that without Western help, Ukraine could surrender in just a few days.

Politico notes that the US presidential administration fears the consequences if Ukraine fails to launch a successful counteroffensive. If it fails, the US will be trapped as some see its aid as insufficient and others as pointless in the face of Russia's success.

However, there is weariness in the West from the ongoing clashes. With recession and economic downturn in some Western countries, financial and military assistance to Ukraine may be limited in duration.
