25 Russian servicemen, previously held captive in the territory controlled by Kyiv, have returned home as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine. In exchange, the Russian side handed over 25 Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war to Ukraine. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, noting that the exchange took place with the mediation of the United Arab Emirates, which came up with a humanitarian initiative.
It is specified that the returned soldiers will be provided with the necessary medical care and will undergo rehabilitation. The health of each of them will be carefully checked, and they will also be provided with the psychological support necessary after being in captivity.
The footage of the return of Russian servicemen was presented by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova. She thanked the UAE for its mediation role and expressed hope for the continuation of humanitarian efforts aimed at the release of all detainees.
The prisoner exchange, conducted on a parity basis, was part of the international community's efforts to reduce tensions in the conflict. The UAE's participation in the process underscores its desire to play a constructive role in humanitarian initiatives amid ongoing hostilities.
