The New York Times reports that a group of 50 Russian and North Korean troops has been deployed on the border of Russia's Kursk region, ready for a large-scale offensive to retake territories controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to data provided by American officials, more than 10 North Korean soldiers have been sent to help Russian forces in order to increase pressure on Ukrainian positions.

US analysts suggest that North Korean troops, who are physically tougher and younger than most of their Ukrainian opponents, could have a significant impact on the outcome of the battles. The North Korean troops are expected to operate within their own separate units, working with the Russian army to enhance offensive operations.

According to American experts, such participation of additional infantry forces could play a key role in weakening the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region and speed up the process of displacing Ukrainian units from the region.

At the same time, Moscow and Pyongyang deny the presence of North Korean troops on Russian territory.
