On the evening of May 18, 2026, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an unmanned aerial vehicle strike on a private home in the village of Markovo, Glushkovsky District, Kursk Region. This was reported by the region's governor, Alexander Khinshtein.

A 68-year-old woman died in the attack. Her injuries were too severe to be saved. Two other people were injured. The 57-year-old woman suffered penetrating wounds to the chest and abdomen. Her 62-year-old husband suffered a penetrating shrapnel wound to the head. Both victims are in serious condition.

They are currently receiving the necessary medical care. The victims are scheduled to be transported to Kursk for further treatment in the near future.

This isn't the first casualty in the region recently. Earlier, on May 16, a drone attack in the Starbeevo neighborhood of Khimki, Belgorod Oblast, killed a woman and injured several people. The day before, four people were reported injured in Istra after drones struck an apartment building and private homes.
