Danish police closed the country's largest airport after detecting several large drones in the vicinity, forcing dozens of flights to be diverted to other cities. The incident occurred this evening, amid similar incidents in neighboring Scandinavian capitals.
Operations at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) were suspended from 20:26 local time (18:26 GMT), police at Platform X said.
"The airport is currently closed to takeoffs and landings due to two to three large drones being spotted in the area. The timeframe is unknown.", — the official statement says.
According to police spokesman Henrik Størmer, there were between two and four devices in the surveillance area.
Flight tracking service FlightRadar24 recorded the diversion of at least 35 flights to alternative airports. An airport spokesperson confirmed that the airspace over the area was closed for investigation, but did not provide further details.
These developments come amid recent drone violations of Polish airspace, heightening concerns in the region. Police continue to investigate the source of the threat.
