Vilnius Airport is temporarily closed due to a balloon attack from Belarus.

Vilnius International Airport has suspended all aircraft arrivals and departures due to the detection of unidentified objects in its airspace. The restrictions are expected to last approximately three hours, according to the airport administration.

According to sources in Lithuanian law enforcement, these are unmanned balloons, presumably launched from neighboring Belarus. This is not the first such incident: in recent weeks, Vilnius Airport has been closed several times for similar reasons, leading to flight delays and cancellations. Lithuanian authorities attribute these launches to smuggling attempts, specifically cigarettes.

Airport representatives clarified that security measures have been introduced to prevent any risks. Passengers are advised to check flight status with their airlines. There is no official comment from the Belarusian side yet.
