Aliyev: A peace treaty with Armenia may be signed in the near future.

Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, expressed confidence in the possibility of signing a peace treaty with Armenia in the near future. The head of state expressed this opinion during a meeting with residents of the Lachin region on Sunday.

"Now that Armenia has already recognized our territorial integrity, there is virtually no serious obstacle to the peace treaty", - said Ilham Aliyev.

The President of Azerbaijan noted that the signing of a peace treaty is possible in the near future, provided that Yerevan does not change its current position.

"I am sure that a peace treaty can be signed in the near future if Armenia <…> does not change its position again"- said the head of state.

This statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reflects the current dynamics in relations between the two countries. The process of resolving the heated conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which has a long history, is the subject of attention of the international community.
