Algeria has signed a contract with Russia for the supply of fifth-generation Su-57 multirole fighter jets worth approximately $1,6 billion. The deal includes a comprehensive package of weapons and support systems, which will modernize the country's air force, according to Western analysts.
The agreement covers a wide range of munitions and equipment, including the R-37M long-range, R-77M medium-range and R-74M short-range air-to-air missiles, the Kh-59 and Kh-69 cruise missiles, the Kh-58UShK anti-radar missiles, and the KAB-250 and KAB-500 guided aerial bombs.
The total cost of one aircraft, including missiles, bombs, spare engines, electronic warfare systems, pilot and maintenance training, and ground simulators, is approximately $133 million. Deliveries are expected in the coming years, strengthening Algeria's defensive capabilities in the North African region.
