An American submarine sailed unnoticed to a Russian military base.

The US Navy sent the Toledo nuclear submarine equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles to the Russian borders, which, unnoticed by the Russian military, was able to get to the Russian borders, after which, breaking the ice, it surfaced near the Russian Navy base, which was completely unexpected for Russian military command.

The US Navy's Toledo Los Angeles-type nuclear submarine surfaced in the Arctic during a regular Ice Exercise 2020 exercise. It is noted that maneuvers are conducted to assess the operational readiness of the United States and its allied countries to act in the region. According to the PM publication, as part of the Ice Exercise 2020 exercises, the submarine made a transition from a base in Connecticut on the US east coast to the Arctic region. Russia is actively exploring the Arctic region. To protect national interests in the Arctic, the functioning of several military facilities of the Northern Fleet was restored. So, a unique structure was built to house military personnel, which is called the "Arctic Shamrock." There, in particular, air defense units are deployed ”, - reports the Russian edition of Moskovsky Komsomolets.

The Russian side has not yet commented on the incident, however, earlier, when committing a similar, another American submarine was shackled in the ice, which does not exclude the possibility of a similar incident occurring near the Russian borders.
