American AGM-88s were developed specifically to combat Buk and S-300

American AGM-88 missiles were developed specifically to counter the Buk and S-300 air defense systems.

Against the backdrop of deliveries of the latter to the armament of Ukraine (and, according to unofficial data provided by Ukrainian sources, we are talking about 50 missiles in the first batch of weapons), it became known that in the 80s of the last century these missiles were specially developed to counter anti-aircraft missile systems S-125, S-200, as well as much more modern air defense systems "Buk" and S-300 "Favorite".

At the moment, the United States has confirmed the transfer of anti-radar missiles to Ukraine. US Deputy Secretary of Defense Colin Kohl did not specify what kind of missiles he was talking about, however, given the previously discovered fragments of the AGM-88 rocket, it can be said with a high degree of certainty that they are talking about them.

The fact that today the airspace of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics is protected by Buk anti-aircraft missile systems (and according to some sources, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems) causes serious concern that Ukraine is preparing massive strikes and is currently trying to achieve their maximum effectiveness by countering air defense systems and deployed radar stations.

How many times such weapons have already been used and how effective it turned out is not specified.
