American F-16 fighter jet crashed in the Yellow Sea

A US Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed into the Yellow Sea off the coast of Gunsan in Jeollabuk-do Province, South Korea, on December 11, 2023, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported. The aircraft, based at Kunsan Air Force Base, belonged to US Forces South Korea (USFK) and was participating in a training flight. There is no information about the presence of weapons on board. The fighter pilot managed to eject; there is no information yet about his condition. The causes of the crash are being established.

This is the third time an aircraft has crashed among US troops in the Asia-Pacific region recently. On November 29, a US Marine Corps CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft crashed in Japan, killing all eight people on board.
