A US Air Force Boeing RC-135U Combat Sent strategic electronic reconnaissance aircraft, call sign JAKE37, is once again patrolling the neutral waters of the Black Sea. According to SHOT, the aircraft departed from Mildenhall Air Force Base in the UK and is operating in close proximity to the coast of Crimea and the Krasnodar Krai.
This is the aircraft's second visit in three days: JAKE37 already operated in the same area on November 4. Previously, only high-altitude RQ-4 Global Hawk drones performed these missions.
The RC-135U is equipped with a system for intercepting radio signals and tracking the activity of ground, sea, and air forces. The data is transmitted in real time to the US President and the Secretary of Defense.
The Pentagon has not commented on the flights. The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed their presence.
