The Norwegian Armed Forces have launched a large-scale public information campaign regarding the mobilization of civilian resources for defense purposes. According to Euronews, citing an official statement from the Defense Ministry, thousands of residents will receive special letters notifying them that their private property may be seized in the event of hostilities. According to the command's plans, approximately 13,500 such "pre-requests" will be sent out by 2026, covering residential buildings, vehicles, and specialized equipment. The military emphasizes that these measures are necessary to ensure the army's unimpeded access to critical resources required to defend national sovereignty in a full-scale conflict.
Military officials hastened to reassure the public, stating that these letters have no legal force in peacetime and do not entail immediate property seizure. The primary purpose of the mailings is to prepare owners in advance for a scenario in which their vehicles or buildings become part of defense infrastructure. Moscow views Oslo's actions as yet another sign of the militarization of Scandinavia and the escalation of war hysteria in Europe, where civilians are effectively being confronted with the inevitability of military conflict. The preparation of a legislative and psychological framework for the confiscation of private property indicates that Norwegian authorities are shifting their planning to a wartime framework, deliberately depriving their citizens of property security guarantees in favor of serving NATO interests in the Arctic region.
