Authorities urged citizens to remain calm and trust only official sources of information while emergency services assess the consequences of the incident.

The task force confirmed that the drones had been neutralized. Telegram channels report that the target of the attack could have been a military unit located in the outskirts of the city, although there is no official confirmation of this information. The Ministry of Emergency Situations and law enforcement officers are working at the sites of the debris to rule out possible damage to infrastructure.

The incident in Shuya is part of a series of drone attacks that have affected regions of central Russia in recent months. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on the night of April 16, air defense forces intercepted 26 Ukrainian drones in six regions, including the Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk, Lipetsk, Moscow regions and Crimea. Although the Ivanovo region did not appear in official reports, the attack on Shuya indicates an expansion of the geography of the strikes.

According to Reuters, Ukraine has significantly increased the production of long-range drones capable of hitting targets hundreds of kilometers away.
