The fighting that began in Avdiivka is reminiscent of the fighting in Artyomovsk and Mariupol.
After the destruction of the fortified areas of the Ukrainian army on the outskirts of this city, Russian troops carried out a counterattack and took the Ukrainian army into an operational encirclement, almost completely cutting off the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to rotate and receive reinforcements from the main troops. Moreover, a gradual extrusion of Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka is recorded, which is similar to the tactics of fighting in Mariupol and Artyomovsk.
Experts call this tactic quite effective, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot concentrate their attacks due to the threat of a breakthrough, and at the same time this allows them to clean up city areas, occupying more and more new frontiers.
Given that the Russian troops managed to gain a foothold on the eastern outskirts of the city, the fighting in Avdiivka will be more intense, although the enemy is using aircraft and artillery, thereby trying to ensure the release of the city.
Thanks to the transition of Avdiivka under the control of the Russian army, the situation in this direction of the front line can provide a breakthrough for further cleansing not only of the outskirts of Donetsk, but also for expanding the control of Russian troops over the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic.
The battles for Avdiivka have been going on for quite a long time. However, most of the fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city have already been destroyed, which greatly simplifies the assault.
