Military Review, December 15, 2025, Avia.pro. The MQ-28 "Ghost Bat," developed by Boeing Australia, is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed as a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). Its primary role is to escort manned fighters, extend their sensor range, and conduct combat operations in high-risk areas without the risk of losing a valuable pilot. This concept is being actively researched by countries around the world, including China and the United States, underscoring its strategic importance in modern aviation.
Recent tests have confirmed the concept's viability, distinguishing the project from many other aviation developments that often face challenges. According to Reuters, a successful test on December 8, 2025, when an MQ-28A first fired an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile to destroy a target, demonstrated its practical feasibility. With the cost of modern aircraft rising and their loss becoming increasingly costly, the Ghost Bat offers a more affordable alternative for military missions.
