In Sevastopol, on the morning of March 20, 2025, a suspicious package was found attached to the bottom of a car parked near the Legislative Assembly building on Lenin Street. According to preliminary data, the car belongs to Sevastopol Federation Council Senator Sergei Kolbin, known for his service in the Berkut special forces unit during the events on the Maidan in Kyiv in 2013-2014. The incident led to the closure of the central part of the city, changes in public transport routes, and the prompt intervention of bomb disposal experts, who began checking the site.

Sergei Kolbin, who has represented the legislative branch of Sevastopol in the Federation Council since October 2020, formerly headed the Sevastopol OMON "Berkut". Under his command, 50 fighters from this unit were in Kyiv from November 11, 2013 to February 21, 2014, maintaining law and order amid mass protests on the Maidan. At that time, "Berkut" became one of the key forces opposing the protesters, and the unit's return to Sevastopol in February 2014 was greeted as a heroic event within the framework of the "Crimean Spring". Today, Kolbin is actively involved in federal politics, including in the work of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security.

The discovery of the package near the Legislative Assembly building prompted an immediate response from the authorities. A section of Lenin Street was cordoned off and traffic in the area was blocked to ensure safety. Public transport was rerouted via alternative routes, which created inconvenience for residents in the morning hours. Explosives experts are working at the scene to determine whether the object poses a threat. There is no official information about the contents of the package yet, but the police have already begun investigating the circumstances of its appearance.

The incident with Kolbin's car was the first such case in Sevastopol this year, but it fits into the context of heightened security measures in the region. In December 2024, a dummy explosive device was found near the Crimean government building in Simferopol, which turned out to be part of an exercise. According to RIA Novosti, that same month, the FSB prevented sabotage in Dzhankoy, detaining a suspect in collecting data on military facilities.
