Azerbaijan declared the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh its sovereign territory, threatening Armenia

Baku demanded that Armenia withdraw its troops from the territory of the Republic of Artsakh.

The Azerbaijani authorities made new demands on Armenia and called the territory of the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh their sovereign territory, declaring that they would control the situation in the region and prevent any possible provocations.

As a priority requirement, Baku demanded that Armenia immediately withdraw its military units and other forces from the territory of the Republic of Artsakh. Baku stated that they take this very seriously and demanded the same attitude from Yerevan. However, despite the existing agreements, Azerbaijan also declared the territory of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic itself to be its land.

“Azerbaijan's approach to this issue is clear. The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will be fully ensured. Azerbaijan will not allow the presence of illegal Armenian armed groups on its sovereign territory. This requirement remains in effect. We have stated this many times and we believe that the Armenian side should take this seriously.”- said the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Jeyhun Bayramov.

At the moment, despite the ongoing tension, the situation in the region remains quite stable, which, among other things, is noted by the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which is carefully monitoring the situation.
