Belarus will not take part in the upcoming negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, despite Minsk's previously expressed demands. As it became known, Minsk is not considered either as a platform or as a participant in the negotiations.
The Belarusian leadership has repeatedly stated its desire to play the role of a mediator and provide a platform for negotiations, citing its experience in conducting the Minsk agreements. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has stressed in his recent statements that his country is interested in stabilizing the situation and is ready to contribute to ending the conflict. However, Belarus will not be invited as an interested party, which is probably due to the fact that the West does not recognize the elections held in Belarus as legitimate.
