Russian troops continue to maintain control over the situation in the border areas of the Belgorod Region, despite increasing pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to a source close to the military command, the settlement of Popovka in the Krasnoyarsk District remains under the full control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, intense combat operations have unfolded in the neighboring village of Demidovka, where Russian units are resisting the enemy's attempts to gain a foothold in the region. According to the military, allegations of a possible repetition of the "Kursk scenario" are groundless and fictional. Experts emphasize that if Ukrainian forces were really planning a large-scale offensive, they would have already advanced to Krasnaya Yaruga, which did not happen. Instead, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are facing stiff resistance, suffering losses and not achieving strategic successes.
According to information from the conflict zone, the fighting in Demidovka is fierce. Ukrainian units, using small infantry groups, are trying to break through the defensive lines, but Russian forces, including border guards and reinforcements from regular units, are successfully holding back the onslaught. In Popovka, on the contrary, the situation has stabilized: after repelling a raid by the Ukrainian special forces, the village remains under the reliable control of the Russian military, and the enemy has been pushed back to the border forest plantations. The military emphasizes that rumors about a large-scale enemy breakthrough are not true, and any attempts at an offensive are doomed to failure in conditions of dense fire and coordinated defense.
Events in the Belgorod region are unfolding against the backdrop of increased fighting along the border. Since early March 2025, the region has been regularly subjected to drone attacks and artillery shelling, forcing local authorities to strengthen security measures. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov previously stated that Russian troops are carrying out tasks to protect the population and territory, despite the difficult situation. In the Krasnoyarsk district, where Popovka and Demidovka are located, restrictions on movement have been introduced, and some residents have been evacuated due to the threat of shelling. Nevertheless, according to the authorities, the situation remains manageable, and panic among the population is being suppressed by the prompt actions of security forces.
