Belarusian media reported about the accident at the Ostrovets NPP - no radiation release

An unknown accident occurred at the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Shortly before midnight, it became known that an emergency occurred at the Ostrovets NPP, located in the western part of Belarus - the power unit, which was brought to full capacity only the day before yesterday, unexpectedly stopped generating energy. A forced shutdown of the power unit is reported due to a triggered protection system.

At the moment, it is known that the power unit has been completely shut down, while Avia.pro journalists managed to find out how a critical situation is not observed - no increase in the level of radiation in western Belarus was recorded.

The Ministry of Energy of Belarus confirmed the incident:

“The first power unit of BelNPP is disconnected from the network At 19.02 the first power unit of BelNPP was disconnected from the network after the generator protection system was triggered. The protection system was triggered during the pilot operation of the first power unit, within which systems and equipment are being tested "

There are no details from the Belarusian authorities in this regard, however, this is the third incident that has occurred at the Belarusian nuclear power plant since its commissioning, which causes some concern about the level of preparedness of Belarusian power engineers.
