The situation in Afghanistan continues to be the main source of instability for the countries of Central Asia, said Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. According to him, numerous radical groups that have established themselves on Afghan territory have stepped up their activities, spreading extremist ideas to neighboring republics. This threat requires constant monitoring and strengthening of borders, especially the Tajik-Afghan border, to prevent the penetration of terrorists and gangs.
No specific information on this matter has been provided, however, earlier in Russia the Taliban movement’s status as a terrorist group was removed.
