On Friday night, a drone dropped paint on the territory of the Russian embassy in Stockholm. The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. local time. The embassy guards raised the alarm, but the drone operator and the device itself were not found, despite the police helicopter being brought in to search.
According to the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the police have classified the incident as an act of vandalism. However, due to the embassy's close proximity to the airport, the investigation may be supplemented with an article on aviation violations.
Stockholm police spokesman Mats Eriksson noted that the drone incident occurred the day after the attack on the Swedish embassy in Moscow, where bottles were thrown at the building's facade. Eriksson said some may see a connection between the two events.
The Russian side has not yet made any official statements regarding the incident, but experts emphasize that the attack on diplomatic institutions is a violation of international norms that requires investigation and response at the level of interstate relations.
