The Latvian National Armed Forces have confirmed that the drone that crashed on the territory of the republic came from Belarus. Previously, the drone was called Russian, but now the Latvian military has clarified the origin of the object and its route. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Rezekne region on September 7, causing a wave of discussions among local residents and experts.
Despite initial assumptions about a possible threat, the NAF leadership stated that the appearance of the drone should not be regarded as an act of military aggression against Latvia. As noted by the armed forces, the drone's target was outside the country and its fall on Latvian territory was rather accidental. They also emphasized that there is no reason to consider this event as an escalation of the conflict.
