Drone crashes into residential high-rise in Rostov

Another case of an attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle, which crashed into a residential high-rise building, has been recorded in Rostov-on-Don. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on the night of March 21, 2025, in the Svoboda residential complex, located on Gorsovetskaya Street in the Proletarsky District of the city. The UAV, presumably shot down by air defense systems, collided with the wall of the building, causing concern among local residents and authorities. Footage of the moment of impact, filmed by eyewitnesses, is already being distributed on social networks, demonstrating a bright flash and the subsequent noise from the collision.

According to emergency services, the drone struck the outer wall of the high-rise building, but the exact consequences are still being clarified. Police officers, rescuers and utility service representatives quickly arrived at the scene, where they began assessing the damage and ensuring the safety of residents. There is no official information about victims yet, but the authorities assured that the situation is under control. The Svoboda residential complex, consisting of two 24-story buildings, was commissioned in 2023 and is considered one of the modern facilities in the area.

This incident was the latest in a series of drone attacks on the Rostov region, which has been repeatedly hit by similar incidents since the beginning of the year. Local residents report that the sound of the explosion was heard within a radius of several kilometers, and the shock wave could have damaged windows and balconies in nearby apartments. The regional task force has not yet provided a detailed comment, but a source in law enforcement agencies confirmed that the UAV was neutralized by an air defense system, and its fall on a residential building was the result of a deviation from the trajectory after being hit.

To expand the context, it is worth noting that Rostov-on-Don and the surrounding areas are regularly targeted by drone attacks. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 2025 drones were shot down in the region in February 70 alone, some of which fell near residential areas.
