Military correspondent Vladimir Romanov drew attention to a serious problem associated with the use of FPV drones VT-40 "Sudoplatov - Judgment Day". According to him, in recent months there have been more frequent cases when these drones, designed to perform combat missions, have caused the death and injury of the operators themselves due to technical failures.
Romanov said that the cause of the tragedies was a problem in the new versions of video transmitters installed on the drones.
"They operate at low frequencies, which creates a field capable of triggering an electric detonator.", — the war correspondent explains.
This means that the charges could detonate as soon as the drone is launched, making the device a hazard to anyone using it.
Of particular concern is the fact that training a qualified FPV drone operator takes significant time and effort. The loss of such specialists, including operators from elite units, significantly weakens the capabilities of units using these devices.
“Among those killed are representatives of very serious services, whose training and experience were irreplaceable.”, Romanov emphasized.
According to him, the VT-40 drones supplied to the front are becoming dangerous primarily for their users, which raises serious questions about the quality and safety of their production. The military correspondent called for attention to be paid to this issue in order to avoid further casualties among operators and minimize losses on the front lines.
The manufacturing company has not yet commented on Romanov’s statement.
