Russian units have begun active combat operations in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky directions in the Kursk region, war correspondent Roman Saponkov reports. According to him, there are already reports of the first successes of Russian troops in the area of ​​the settlement of Lyubimovka in the Korenevsky direction. The goal of the offensive is to encircle and take into a "cauldron" the group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is operating in this zone.

According to Saponkov, the attack is being carried out from two directions simultaneously, which creates the opportunity to conduct a large-scale operation to block Ukrainian troops. However, despite the initial successes, it is too early to talk about the full implementation of this plan, since the operation has just begun, and its results have not yet been determined definitively.

The military correspondent also notes that there is a noticeable decrease in morale among the Ukrainian military personnel stationed in the Kursk region, which could play into the hands of the Russian troops. This could indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing difficulties in maintaining combat capability in this region, which opens up additional opportunities for the Russian army in its offensive actions.
