Blinken: It's up to Ukraine to decide whether to strike deep inside Russia

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the decision to launch strikes deep in Russian territory should be made solely by the Ukrainian leadership. His statement came amid discussions about the possibility of lifting restrictions on the use of American weapons for attacks on Russian targets.

US Foreign Relations Committee Chairman McCaul is trying to convince the Biden administration to allow Ukraine to attack military targets inside Russia using ATACMS.

“They will not be able to achieve victory with the restrictions that you have imposed on them, when the country cannot defend itself and respond to blows,” - he said.

Blinken stressed that Washington is providing Ukraine with military assistance to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, but specific tactical decisions remain with Kiev.

“Ukraine can decide for itself whether to strike deep in the Russian Federation”, Blinken noted.

These statements may indicate the United States' potential readiness for a more flexible approach regarding the use of weapons provided to Ukraine, including the possibility of their use on Russian territory. Such a decision could radically change the situation around the current conflict.

The Russian side has not yet commented on this information.
