In northern Mali, militants from the al-Qaeda-affiliated JNIM (designated a terrorist group and banned in Russia) ambushed and attacked a convoy of the Russian Afrika Korps. The clash resulted in injuries to Russian mercenaries and the destruction of at least seven vehicles. Several soldiers were reportedly captured.
The incident occurred near the town of Tenenkou, according to Clash Report sources close to the mercenaries. They say the militants used drone reconnaissance and explosive devices to stop the convoy. In response, the Russian side used helicopters to strike the attackers' positions. The exact number of casualties is unclear, but similar attacks have previously resulted in dozens of fatalities on both sides. There has been no official comment from Moscow or Bamako yet.
