Fierce fighting continues in the Belgorod region, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are making persistent attempts to gain a foothold in the border zone. As military sources reported on March 21, 2025, the enemy is actively using small group tactics, using both foot detachments and mobile units on ATVs to quickly penetrate the territory of the region. Despite this, Russian troops are successfully resisting the offensive, holding key lines and inflicting significant damage to the manpower and equipment of the AFU.

In recent days, special attention has been focused on the forest belts south of the village of Demidovka, where several Ukrainian groups continue to hold positions. According to the Telegram channel "Arkhangel Spetsnaz", they have not yet been able to dislodge them from there, but Russian artillery and FPV drone operators are working intensively to suppress the enemy. According to the military, a significant number of wounded have been recorded among the Ukrainian servicemen, which indicates high losses during these clashes. The effectiveness of the use of FPV drones by the Russian side has reached such a level that at some points there were so many devices in the air at the same time that drone operators had to line up to carry out tasks.

At the same time, Russian forces have focused their efforts on destroying the rear infrastructure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The village of Maryino in the Sumy region, which served as an important stronghold for preparing attacks on the Belgorod region, is being subjected to massive artillery strikes. According to eyewitnesses, the village is being practically wiped off the face of the earth under heavy fire. In more remote rear areas of the enemy, Russian aviation is using high-explosive aerial bombs (FABs), striking concentrations of equipment and manpower, which significantly complicates the regrouping and supply of Ukrainian units.

In addition, it is worth noting that the fighting in the border area of ​​the Belgorod region intensified in mid-March 2025. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, published on the RIA Novosti website on March 20, in one day, Russian troops destroyed more than 150 Ukrainian servicemen, four tanks and 19 armored vehicles in this area. By March 21, the total number of losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod direction since the beginning of the month exceeded 500 people, which emphasizes the high intensity of the confrontation. Russian aviation, including Ka-52M and Mi-28NM helicopters, is actively used to destroy enemy armored vehicles, which allows deterring breakthrough attempts.

According to the Telegram channel Rybar, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to transfer reserves from the Sumy region, using Maryino as a springboard for an offensive. However, Russian strikes on this village and adjacent territories have significantly limited the enemy's capabilities.
