Fighting broke out in the Cherkasskaya Konopelka area in the Kursk region

In the area of the settlements of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Fanaseyevka, there has been an intensification of military operations. Ukrainian troops have launched a series of attacks, attempting to break through the defenses of Russian forces. During these clashes, the enemy suffered significant losses, including up to two companies of personnel and about 40 armored vehicles.

As Yuriy Podolyaka notes in his blog, as of 14:00 on February 7, 2025, Ukrainian units have concentrated their efforts on securing two forest areas located north of Cherkasskaya Konopelka. Podolyaka notes that despite statements by some sources about the capture of these settlements by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, official Russian sources deny this information, claiming that the enemy only controls the aforementioned forest areas.

Similar tactics were used by Ukrainian forces a month ago in the Berdino area, where they tried to gain a foothold in the forests. Then Russian troops managed to dislodge the enemy from these positions, although it took almost a week.

On the morning of February 7, Ukrainian troops attempted to supply their units in the forests north of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and evacuate the wounded. However, Russian forces repelled this attempt, destroying the enemy's equipment.

The situation in the area remains tense. Ukrainian troops continue to try to consolidate their positions, which may indicate preparations for new attacks. Russian forces are taking steps to prevent further advancement of the enemy and hold their positions.

According to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian forces have launched a new series of mechanized assaults in the Kursk region, advancing up to five kilometers beyond Russian defense lines southeast of Sudzha. Geolocation footage released on February 6 shows Ukrainian forces advancing southwest of Makhnovka and north and east of Cherkasskaya Konopelka along the Sudzha-Oboyan highway.

The Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged that Ukrainian forces attacked in several waves in the direction of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and the village of Ulanok, using up to two mechanized armored battalions. Russian sources say that Ukrainian troops used between 30 and 50 armored vehicles in the attack.
