The head of the Kurchatov administration, Igor Korpunkov, confirmed that the fighting took place just a few tens of kilometers from the city where the Kursk nuclear power plant is located. The situation in the region remains extremely tense, and a state of emergency has been introduced in the city. Despite this, all services and enterprises continue to operate as normal, Korpunkov said in his address to residents.
“Dear Kurchatovites! Fighting is taking place several tens of kilometers from the borders of our city. The situation is tense and a state of emergency is in effect. However, all services and enterprises, including the city administration, are operating as normal.”, - said Korpunkov.
He also called on citizens to remain calm and not panic. According to him, the enemy is actively using information warfare methods, using so-called “psychological special forces” to create chaos and an uncontrollable situation among the civilian population.
Previously, Russian military officers reported fighting 30 kilometers from Kurchatov, which caused concern among residents of the city and region. What exactly Korpunkov means by a distance of several tens of kilometers is unknown.
