Today, the key event in the Kursk direction was the battle for the settlement of Lyubimovka. According to military analyst Yuriy Podolyaka, units of the 137th regiment and the 155th Marine Brigade took part in the assault, attacking the village from different directions. In the morning, the Marines attempted to bypass Lyubimovka from the southwest and enter it immediately, but their attack was repelled by Ukrainian forces.
The enemy, despite a strong defense, was unable to organize a full-fledged defense along the entire area, so by evening Russian units were able to encircle Lyubimovka from the south and southeast, advancing through the neighboring settlement of Tolsty Lug. Ukrainian troops were forced to retreat behind the Snagost River, which is a natural line of defense.
However, despite the success of Russian forces, Lyubimovka remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The enemy holds the defense in the village, using well-trained and battle-hardened units that are holding back the further advance of Russian troops. As Podolyaka noted, in order to finally take Lyubimovka, it is necessary to either continue the assault or try to bypass it from the northern side.
