Fighting in the Kursk region: Ukrainian aviation carried out strikes with JDAM bombs

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began actively using aviation during their offensive in the Kursk region. According to Forbes, Ukrainian aircraft, including Soviet-made Su-27 fighters, began carrying out strikes using modern American aerial bombs with the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) satellite guidance system.

One of these strikes took place in the Tetkino area, located just a few kilometers north of the front line in the Kursk region. According to the data presented, Ukrainian Su-27s are actively used to launch attacks on Russian territory.

It is noted that, despite Ukraine having recently delivered American F-16 aircraft, their use in current combat operations is limited. The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, previously stated that these aircraft are planned to be used primarily to strengthen the air defense system, and not for risky ground attacks near the front line. This decision is due to the need to preserve aircraft for more strategic missions at the initial stage of hostilities.

In addition, Forbes reports that the Ukrainian military has significantly strengthened its presence in the Kursk region by deploying numerous air defense batteries and electronic warfare (EW) systems.
