The authorities of the city of Lgov, located in the Kursk region, denied the spreading rumors that the Ukrainian military had allegedly reached the city and were only 15 kilometers from the Kursk nuclear power plant. These rumors were supported by a photograph in which, as Ukrainian sources claimed, a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman was depicted leaving Lgov. However, it later turned out that the image was fake.
The Ukrainian military published the photo for the purpose of disinformation, trying to create a false impression that its forces were advancing deeper into Russian territory. However, a thorough check showed that the image was faked and no real presence of Ukrainian military in the specified area was recorded.
