During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, said that Ukrainian troops currently control 28 settlements in the region. The situation remains difficult: the depth of penetration of Ukrainian forces into the territory of the Kursk region is 12 kilometers, and the width of the front is about 40 kilometers.
Smirnov also emphasized that the fate of about 2 residents who are in these settlements remains unknown. The regional authorities continue to work to determine the whereabouts and condition of these people, and are also taking measures to organize humanitarian assistance and evacuate from conflict zones.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side claims control over 44 settlements in the Kursk region. However, there is no direct evidence of this and such information is aimed more at misinforming the population.
