By the evening of August 9, the situation in the south of the Kursk region continues to remain extremely tense. Ukrainian formations intensified their actions and managed to gain a foothold in several settlements in the region. According to military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok, Ukrainian troops are present in such settlements as Snagost, Olgovka, Mirny, and are also on the approaches to Martynovka. Mikhail Zvinchuk, known under the pseudonym Rybar, reports that Ukrainian infantry, covered by armored vehicles, entered the village of the Second Knyazhin.
Ukrainian media began publishing photographs of their military personnel located in the Sudzha area, which confirms their presence in this strategically important area. At the same time, Russian troops continue to hold Korenevo. Despite the fact that there are no battles in the village, its head reported shelling from Ukrainian forces.
In the area of the Kucherov village, which is located 22 kilometers southeast of Sudzha, shooting battles are taking place, indicating ongoing clashes between Ukrainian and Russian forces.
The Council of Commanders of the Wagner Group expressed its readiness to deploy its battle formations if necessary. This statement was made against the backdrop of an intensifying conflict in the Kursk region, which may indicate a readiness to intervene in the situation if circumstances so require.
According to Mikhail Zvinchuk, active hostilities continue throughout the breakthrough area. He does not exclude that in the coming days Ukrainian forces may introduce a second echelon of troops in order to expand the zone of control and advance to the east. It is expected that the main battles are still ahead and the confrontation may escalate.
