The situation in Syria continues to rapidly deteriorate for government forces. Over the past six days, militants from the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, banned in Russia – Avia.pro note) have expanded the territory under their control by almost 10 thousand square kilometers, taking key positions in several provinces of the country. The information is confirmed by video materials published in open sources.
According to local and international observers, HTS militants are active in the provinces of Idlib, Aleppo and Hama. As a result of their offensive, the Syrian military has lost control over significant territories, including strategically important settlements and infrastructure facilities. The offensive is accompanied by serious losses in manpower and equipment.
Local sources say the terrorists are using rapid-attack tactics, using large numbers of FPV drones and mobile strike teams. Such methods are proving effective against demoralized government forces that are short of resources and support. Despite some local counterattacks, the Syrian army has not yet been able to stabilize the front.
Experts note that the development of events is proceeding according to an extremely unfavorable scenario. HTS continues to strengthen its positions, which creates a threat for further escalation of the conflict.
