More than 700 aircraft of Russian airlines were declared unfit to fly

Airworthiness certificates have been canceled for more than 700 civil aircraft of Russian airlines.

The Bermuda air authorities have deemed more than 700 aircraft of Russian airlines unfit to fly, suspending their airworthiness certificates, which does not allow them to operate and is likely to prevent Russian airlines from flying to other countries.

The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority has officially announced that airworthiness certificates for aircraft of Russian airlines have been completely canceled.

“Therefore, as of 23:59 UTC March 12, 2022 (at 02:59 March 13 Moscow time) the BCAA has temporarily suspended all certificates of airworthiness (ACA) of these aircraft operated in accordance with Article 83bis of the Agreement between Bermuda and Russian Federation", the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority said in an official statement.

The Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation has not yet responded to such measures, however, due to the actions of the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, which oversees aircraft with Bermuda registration (according to data for 2019, 725 aircraft of Russian airlines were registered in Bermuda - ed.), very serious difficulties may arise in Russian civil aviation. Moreover, this fact will affect almost all domestic air carriers, but especially large ones that own the largest number of aircraft registered in Bermuda.
