The political scientist spoke about Lukashenka's demands for Putin during a meeting in St. Petersburg.

Despite open statements by the Belarusian authorities that European sanctions do not work against the Belarusian economy, it became known that during a recent meeting of the Belarusian and Russian leaders, Lukashenko again demanded that Putin allocate the Belarusian side an amount of $ 3.5 billion. Such information is given by political scientist Dmitry Bolkunets.

“The government of Belarus has sent proposals to Moscow to cover losses from the sanctions. Among the proposals there is also the provision of “assistance in considering the application of Belarus sent to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development for the allocation of a concessional loan in the amount of $ 3,5 billion (they expect to receive $ 1 billion for urgent budget support in September-October 2021, the remaining $ 2.5 billion - in 2022) "- said Bolkunets.

To what extent Moscow is interested in such demands of Lukashenka is unknown. After the incident with the forced landing of the plane, Europe brought down colossal sanctions on Belarus: in particular, today there is a risk of complete bankruptcy of the only large Belarusian air carrier, Belavia, which, as previously reported, has already taken measures to reduce 50% of the company's staff.

It should be noted that at the moment the Belarusian and Russian sides have not officially commented on the information on the negotiations regarding the allocation of an amount of $ 4 billion to Belarus.
