Drones attacked the Astrakhan gas processing plant.

Astrakhan Region Governor Igor Babushkin reported a fire at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant (GPP) as a result of an attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. The incident occurred on the night of May 13, 2026.

According to the regional governor, electronic warfare and air defense systems operated normally, but when one of the drones crashed, the process equipment caught fire. There were no casualties or injuries among the company's employees.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire will be extinguished within a few hours. There is no threat of air pollution.

The Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant is part of Gazprom Pererabotka and is located on the territory of the Astrakhan gas condensate field. It is the largest producer of gas sulfur in Russia and also produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied petroleum gases.

This attack was part of a larger overnight offensive. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, between 20:00 PM on May 12 and 07:00 AM on May 13, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 286 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over 14 Russian regions, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
