Former German Air Force pilots train Chinese pilots to fly combat vehicles

German journalists have discovered that former German Air Force officers are busy training the Chinese military, including scenarios for a possible attack on Taiwan. The information was presented by the ZDF TV channel and the weekly Der Spiegel. It is reported that these instructors receive excellent salaries for their work, commensurate with the income of top managers.

According to journalists, at least two of the former military personnel were engaged in training pilots of Eurofighter multi-role fighters until they retired. Another German specialist was a pilot of a Tornado combat aircraft. Some of them, at least one, worked and lived in the city of Qiqihar in northeast China, where one of the Chinese Air Force bases with Shenyang J-11 fighters is located.

The ZDF study indicates that the remuneration of former German officers working in China as instructors was made "in many cases through shell companies in the Seychelles." This raises questions about how ex-military activities are monitored after they retire.

According to German journalists, by attracting German military pilots to the training, the Chinese leadership seeks to find out the weaknesses of Western fighters.

In connection with these discoveries, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has already announced his intention to investigate every single case of such cooperation between former German Air Force officers and the Chinese side.
